Virginia Bolen of Hamilton Montana was one of the first brave stances against local corruption, and violation of her rights. Her account, very thoughtfully written, documents law enforcement abuses against a senior AMERICAN citizen in Montana.

At approximately 70 years of age, she was charged with a FELONY for finding a valuable watch. It turns out, the owner was friends with the former county attorney's wife.

The book describes how the local press, mostly Lee Enterprises papers in Montana were helping the hype of the story, and Bolen shrewdly uses the newspaper accounts to their demise.

Lee Enterprises papers in Montana are told what to print, and where to put it.

We are saying that Lee Enterprises sucks because it dupes the people.  Perhaps Lee Enterprises is not aware of the world frenzy of News of the World and Rupert Murdoch.  They also committed crimes to get news stories.  Lee Enterprises takes money from the mouthpiece of the most corrupt justice system in the continental US: The State of Montana [ranks last for justice per USDOJ].

Print media is desperate for money, and in Lee Enterprises case, will take money to print on demand.  Why for example would a request for volunteers be headline news?  It isn't.

Its Perry Backus's way of being whats known as "a useful idiot" for the local corruption.  When they all work together, all parties are protected (they think).  Harvard Law Review v.35 calls it criminal conspiracy, even when no crime is committed.  When a group of people overcome other smaller groups, or individuals that is a perfect example of the Montana way; with Lee Enterprises Monopoly in  the Montana Print Media.

Going with the current "flow" is the way to keep your job at Lee Enterprises, even when you practice defamation on command for the State of Montana.  Ask Perry Backus, it is not due to his "award winning" writing in a closed shop, it is Perry Backus's commitment to corruption and loyalty to the rag named Ravalli Republic.

It can get to your head, having the name of the paper also being the name of the rogue Republic that does not abide by laws, rules, or constitutional rights.  All it took to rid the newbies at the Ravalli Republic was to point out their defamation, or plain errors....poof the not-so-useful idiots were gone.

Former Ravalli Republic Editor, (actually two removed now) was caught plagiarizing editorials from other newspapers, so the standards for Perry Backus are not really high as it is at Lee Enterprises.

Worldwide, the print media business is in big trouble, but Lee Enterprises made their cake and should be forced to eat all of the consequences of someone like Perry Backus and Lee in Montana.
